Job Description
IIT Roorkee’s Centre for Nanotechnology is hiring a Junior Research Assistant to develop an intelligent wearable patch for diabetic neuropathy, in a project led by Ankush Kumar. The patch is meant to map pain adaptively and support early diagnosis, combining sensors, biomedical signal processing, neuromorphic computing and machine learning.

Diabetic neuropathy is nerve damage caused by diabetes, and it often shows up first as pain or numbness in the feet. Catching it early matters. Wearable sensors can track the body continuously, and neuromorphic computing, which processes signals in an event-driven way loosely inspired by neurons, is attractive for wearables because it can be very power-efficient.
About the junior research assistant role
- Develop and characterise intelligent multimodal wearable patches for diabetic neuropathy
- Integrate multiple sensors, and acquire and analyse biomedical signals
- Work on neuromorphic computing, machine-learning-based adaptive pain mapping and hardware-software co-design
- Develop embedded systems and help validate early diagnostic methods for Health 4.0 applications
The selected candidate may get an opportunity for PhD admission after meeting the institute’s criteria. Preference goes to candidates with experience in biomedical signal processing, wearable sensors, embedded systems, machine learning, artificial intelligence, neuromorphic computing, flexible electronics or healthcare data analytics.
Eligibility
- First class in M.Sc., M.Tech or M.S. (Research) in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Physics, Nanoscience/Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or Data Science
Open to Indian nationals only. Among equally qualified candidates, SC/ST candidates will be preferred. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
Pay and duration
- Rs 27,000 per month for the first two years
- Rs 30,000 per month in the third year
- Duration: 36 months
