This Privacy Policy explains what personal data ResearchJobs.in (“we”, “us”) collects when you use researchjobs.in, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, write to us at info@researchjobs.in.

Who we are

ResearchJobs.in is a job board for research roles: JRF and SRF posts, project positions, PhD admissions, postdoctoral fellowships, faculty jobs and industry R&D roles, in India and abroad. You can reach us at info@researchjobs.in or at Gamal Abdel Nasser Marg, Hauz Khas, New Delhi 110016, India.

Information you give us

  • Account details. If you register as a candidate or an employer, we collect your username, email address and password (stored in encrypted form). Candidates may add profile details such as name, gender, phone number, education, work experience and a CV. Employers may add company details such as name, logo, website and contact information.
  • CV details. If you upload a CV, we may use the professional details in it (such as your education, work experience, awards, and research interests) to complete the empty parts of your candidate profile a few days after you register. We never copy contact details, date of birth, address, or salary from a CV, and you can edit or remove anything we add from your dashboard at any time.
  • Job applications. When you apply for a job through our site, the details and documents you submit are shared with the employer who posted that job.
  • Job alerts. If you sign up for email alerts, we collect your email address and the field and frequency you choose. We send a confirmation email first and only send alerts after you confirm.
  • Messages. If you use our contact form or email us, we collect your name, email address and what you write.
  • Comments. If you comment on an article, we collect your name, email address and comment, plus your IP address and browser details, which help detect spam.
  • Purchases. If you buy a paid service, such as a job listing package, we collect your billing details. Card payments are handled by our payment processor; we do not see or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and device data. Like most websites, we record technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, the site that referred you and the time of your visit. We use analytics services, including Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats, to understand how the site is used.
  • Security and abuse prevention. We use Google reCAPTCHA on sign-in and registration forms and Akismet to filter spam. To stop automated abuse of features such as job alerts and the supervisor directory, we keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for a short time, from a few minutes to an hour.
  • Cookies. See “Cookies” below.

Information about academics in our directory

Our Find a supervisor directory helps students find faculty whose research matches their interests. It lists publicly available professional information: name, designation, department, institution, research areas, a link to the person’s official profile and their institution’s email domain. This information comes from institutions’ official websites, public academic directories and official job advertisements. We do not publish personal email addresses or phone numbers in the directory. If you are listed and would like your entry corrected or removed, email info@researchjobs.in.

Job listings

Each job listing summarises an official advertisement and links to it. Listings may include contact details that the employer published in that advertisement, such as a recruitment email address.

How we use information

  • To run your account and the job board, including job applications.
  • To send the job alerts you confirmed, and service emails such as password resets.
  • To answer your messages and correction requests.
  • To process purchases.
  • To keep the site secure and prevent spam, fraud and abuse.
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it, mostly using aggregated statistics.
  • To comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing. You can stop job alerts at any time using the unsubscribe link in every alert email.

Who we share information with

  • Employers, when you apply to their jobs, and visitors and employers can see a candidate profile if you choose to make it public. A candidate’s email address and phone number are shown only to signed-in employers; other visitors don’t see them.
  • Service providers who help us run the site: web hosting, email delivery, analytics (Google, Automattic), security and spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA, Akismet) and payment processing. They may only use your data to provide their services to us.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it or where it is needed to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or ourselves.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use:

  • Essential cookies that keep you signed in, protect forms and remember a shopping cart during checkout.
  • Analytics cookies from Google Analytics that tell us, in aggregate, how visitors use the site.
  • Security cookies from Google reCAPTCHA that help tell people from bots.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, signing in and some forms may not work.

Links and embedded content

Job listings link to official advertisements on other websites, and some pages show embedded content such as a Google map. Those websites may collect information about you under their own privacy policies. The same applies to our pages on social networks such as LinkedIn and Facebook, and our Telegram channel.

How long we keep information

  • Accounts: until you delete your profile from your dashboard or ask us to delete it.
  • Job alerts: until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribing deletes your email address from our alert list straight away, and sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after seven days.
  • Messages: for as long as we need to answer and follow up.
  • Purchase records: for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Analytics and security logs: for the periods set by the services concerned.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and, for visitors from the European Union or the United Kingdom, the GDPR, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have it corrected or completed;
  • have it deleted;
  • withdraw your consent, for example by unsubscribing from alerts;
  • raise a grievance with us, and complain to your data protection authority.

Account holders can update or delete their profile from their dashboard. For anything else, email info@researchjobs.in with the subject “Privacy request”. We will respond as soon as we can, and within the time the law requires. This address is also the contact for grievances about how we handle personal data.

Security

We protect our site with encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and up-to-date software. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information sent over the internet.

Where information is processed

Some of our service providers process data outside India. When that happens, we rely on providers that protect data to an appropriate standard.

Children

ResearchJobs.in is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or the law change. We will change the date at the top, and we will highlight important changes on the site.
