Job Description

The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, is holding a walk-in interview for a Project Research Scientist-I on a breast cancer project led by Prof. Avinash Bajaj. The project targets lipid metabolic pathways in luminal breast cancer patients who do not respond to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT), with the aim of activating an anti-tumour immune response.

At a glance

  • Position: Project Research Scientist-I (1 post)
  • Project: Targeting Lipid Metabolic Pathways in Non-responder NACT-treated Luminal Breast Cancer Patients to Activate in Antitumour Immune Response (title as given)
  • Pay: Rs 56,000 plus 30% HRA per month
  • Duration: One year, extendable till the end of the project
  • Walk-in interview: 23 September 2026, 3:00 PM
  • Advertisement: 34/Project/2026/HR

Some breast cancers shrink little in response to chemotherapy given before surgery. Tumour cells often rewire how they make and use lipids, and this can also dampen the immune system’s attack on the tumour, so targeting lipid metabolism is being explored as a way to make resistant tumours respond.

About the project research scientist role

  • Research on lipid metabolic pathways in non-responder, NACT-treated luminal breast cancer
  • Work towards strategies that activate an anti-tumour immune response, within Prof. Avinash Bajaj’s project

Eligibility

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biological Sciences or Pharmaceutical Sciences

Bring your Class 10, Class 12, graduate and M.Sc. degree certificates and any experience certificates to the interview.

Pay and duration

  • Rs 56,000 plus 30% HRA per month
  • One year, extendable till the end of the project

How to apply

Attend the walk-in interview at 3:00 PM on 23 September 2026 at the Regional Centre for Biotechnology, NCR Biotech Science Cluster, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad-Gurgaon Expressway, Faridabad 121001, Haryana, with the documents listed above. Check RCB’s current opportunities page for the application form before the interview. For questions, email the PI at bajaj@rcb.res.in.

How to prepare for this application

  • Cancer lipid metabolism: fatty acid synthesis, lipid droplets and how they support tumour growth.
  • Tumour immunology: how metabolic changes in tumours suppress immune cells.
  • Luminal breast cancer: hormone-receptor subtypes and what neoadjuvant chemotherapy response means clinically.
  • Techniques: be ready to discuss lipidomics, cell-based assays or chemical tools you have used.
  • Your Ph.D.: prepare a clear ten-minute summary linking your thesis to this project.
