The University of Copenhagen’s Department of Mathematical Sciences invites applications for PhD stipends across pure and applied mathematics, from algebraic geometry and topology to operator algebras, mathematical physics, and quantum information, computation and simulation.

- Classical, functional and harmonic analysis, descriptive set theory, history of mathematics, mathematical physics, operator algebras and partial differential equations
- Quantum information, quantum computation and quantum simulation (section Analysis and Quantum, the Centre for the Mathematics of Quantum Theory and the Quantum for Life Center)

A Danish PhD combines supervised research with about 30 ECTS of PhD courses, a research stay at another group, and some teaching or dissemination, ending in a PhD thesis. Positions are advertised with a fixed project and supervisor, and applicants apply to that specific project.

- For the 3-year programme: a degree equivalent to a Danish master’s in mathematics or a closely related subject; bachelor-level candidates can apply for the integrated 3+5 programme
