Lund University’s Faculty of Law is announcing doctoral positions in law: one or two faculty-funded PhD positions in fiscal law, private international law, constitutional law or procedural law. Your research project should fit one of the research environments that already exist in these fields at the faculty.

About the doctoral positions in law

  • Fiscal law: national and international questions on direct and indirect taxes, compulsory levies and customs duties
  • Private international law: choice of law, court jurisdiction and enforcement of judgments in cross-border disputes
  • Constitutional law: the legal basis of Swedish government, the legislative process and oversight of public power
  • Procedural law: civil procedure and criminal procedure
  • Doctoral students mainly study and research; teaching, research support and administration may make up at most 20% of full time

What Lund University is looking for

  • General eligibility: a second-cycle qualification, or 240 credits with 60 at second-cycle level, or equivalent knowledge
  • Special eligibility: a Master of Laws (juris kandidatexamen/juristexamen), or other education or professional experience judged equivalent
  • A project description of good scientific quality that engages with current research

Nice to have

  • Strong previous written work, such as a master’s thesis
  • Relevant grades and work experience
  • Ability to take part actively in the faculty’s research environment

Pay and location

Swedish doctoral students are salaried employees rather than stipend holders, and the salary follows the university’s scale for doctoral students. The advert did not state a salary figure in the part we reviewed.
