About the operations research role
- Develop and support short-term capacity planning solutions using simulation, integer programming, linear programming or heuristic search
- Work with programme partners to define requirements, build data pipelines and write optimisation code
- Examine solution quality in depth and drive adoption with operations teams
- Find gaps in current planning tools through data analysis or simulation, and choose the best tool to close them

What Amazon is looking for
- A PhD in a quantitative field, or an MS and at least 1 year of quantitative research experience
- Experience testing whether scientific methods can be applied to business problems
- Experience with a data analysis package such as R, SAS or MATLAB
- Experience using SQL databases to manage and analyse large datasets
Nice to have
- A PhD in operations research, applied mathematics, theoretical computer science or equivalent
- Experience with forecasting and data mining
