Job Description

Amazon Ads’ Traffic Quality team is hiring a senior applied scientist in Bengaluru. The team detects sophisticated invalid traffic in programmatic advertising, such as non-human traffic, bot networks and fraudulent engagement, working on billions of ad events a day under strict latency limits. Its research uses deep learning and generative modelling, user-behaviour and multimodal representation learning, anomaly detection, time-series analysis and learning from sparse labels.

About the traffic quality science role

• Define the long-term science vision for traffic quality, based on advertiser and publisher needs
• Solve strategically important problems independently, with robust and scalable solutions
• Develop detection methods that stay ahead of adversarial actors
• Balance precision and recall on very large event streams under strict latency constraints
• Use deep learning, generative models, anomaly detection, time-series analysis and sparse-label learning

What Amazon is looking for

• At least 3 years of building machine learning models for business applications
• A PhD, or a master’s degree and at least 6 years of applied research experience
• Programming in Java, C++, Python or a related language
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

Nice to have

• Modelling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLlib, MXNet, TensorFlow, NumPy and SciPy
• Large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop and Spark
