Job Description

Bosch Global Software Technologies (BGSW), a wholly owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH and Bosch’s largest software development centre outside Germany, is hiring an experienced data scientist with a focus on generative AI in Bengaluru. The role turns business problems into AI and ML solutions, from data preparation and statistical modelling to deep learning for vision and language, and above all to LLM-based systems using prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation and parameter-efficient fine-tuning. About the Bosch generative AI data scientist role

• Understand business problems and translate them into AI and ML solutions
• Collect and preprocess data, engineer features and run exploratory analysis; build statistical models for trends and insights
• Develop supervised and unsupervised ML models, and design deep learning architectures for computer vision and NLP
• Build LLM solutions with prompt engineering, RAG, RAFT and fine-tuning methods such as LoRA and QLoRA, using open and closed models
• Handle NLP tasks such as intent recognition, entity extraction, classification, question answering, summarisation and topic modelling

What Bosch is looking for

• 5 to 8 years as a data scientist or GenAI specialist, with 2 to 3 years developing GenAI solutions
• Hands-on work with open-source LLMs (the posting names Llama, Gemma and Mixtral) and hosted models (it names OpenAI GPT, Azure OpenAI, Claude and Gemini)
• Knowledge of small language models and transformer architecture, and of vector databases
• Python, R, TensorFlow, Keras and PyTorch, plus NLP libraries such as NLTK, spaCy and Gensim
• Experience fine-tuning language models such as BERT for specific NLP tasks, and good knowledge of advanced statistics

• Willingness to work with open-source tools
