Job Description
Amazon Search is hiring a senior applied scientist for its newly formed Relevance India team in Bengaluru. The team’s goal is to help Amazon launch in new countries, categories and product lines with good search from day one, by inventing broadly applicable signals and algorithms for machine-learned ranking and improving the framework used to train and evaluate every new relevance model.

About the search relevance role
- Build machine learning models for product search and new ranking features based on recent research
- Propose and validate hypotheses that shape the business and product roadmap
- Work with engineers on low-latency predictions and higher throughput
- Own the full cycle: design, development, impact assessment, A/B testing and production deployment
- Mentor team members and set a high technical bar
What Amazon is looking for
- At least 6 years of building machine learning models for business applications
- A PhD or a master’s degree
- Programming in Java, C++, Python or a related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
Nice to have
- Modelling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLlib, MXNet, TensorFlow, NumPy and SciPy
- Large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop and Spark
