Research Engineer in Medical Image Processing and MLOps at Stockholm University
Job Description
Stockholm University’s Division of Medical Radiation Physics is hiring a research engineer to build and run a containerised computing platform for medical data analysis and AI. The work covers MLOps pipelines for training, experiment tracking and clinical inference; Kubernetes, storage and shared GPU management; links to DICOM and PACS systems; annotation tools; and secure APIs that meet healthcare privacy standards. It is a short contract of five months, possibly extended.

About the research engineer role
- Design, extend and maintain a containerised platform for medical data analysis and AI
- Build MLOps pipelines for automated training, experiment tracking and clinical inference
- Run Kubernetes orchestration, distributed storage and multi-user GPU allocation
- Integrate DICOM servers, PACS interfaces and web viewers; build active learning and annotation tools
- Build secure REST APIs, identity and access management, and CI/CD, and support researchers and clinical users
What Stockholm University is looking for
- A master’s degree in computer science, software engineering or a related quantitative field
- Strong Linux and Python skills
- Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes experience
- Backend and REST API development with databases, and Git
- Excellent English
Nice to have
- Electronic health records, DICOM and NIfTI, Orthanc, PACS or 3D Slicer
- PyTorch, MONAI, MLflow or Kubeflow
- ArgoCD or Ansible, and Keycloak or OIDC
Pay and location
Stockholm University sets the salary individually; the advert gives no figure. The post is full time for five months, possibly extended, starting as soon as possible.
