Job Description
IonQ’s Quantum Networking team is hiring an optical integration engineer in Bothell, Washington. The role is hands-on: precision optical alignment and integration of optical, mechanical and electrical components into complex systems, including free-space optical communication, fibre-based systems and high-power lasers. The engineer follows and improves alignment procedures, inspects optomechanical assemblies and works with engineers to troubleshoot performance, in cleanroom and laser-safety conditions.

What IonQ is looking for
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in optics, photonics or engineering, or equivalent experience
- 2 to 5 years in optical components, aerospace, optical communications or precision optics
- Precision alignment and metrology tools: autocollimators, beam profilers, interferometers, polarimeters
- Cleanroom, ESD and laser-safety practice
- Reading engineering drawings and optical assembly procedures
Nice to have
- 5+ years of experience and R&D lab work
- ZEMAX and SolidWorks or Siemens NX
- Cryogenic, vacuum or chiller integration
- MATLAB or Python for data analysis
Pay and location
IonQ posts a base range of $99,782 to $143,083, plus bonus and equity. The role is based in Bothell with up to 25% domestic travel.
