QphoX in Delft is hiring a device design engineer to design the next generation of its integrated microwave-to-optical quantum transducers. The engineer implements designs for production and R&D, monitors fabrication and measurement results, maintains and automates the device design codebase, and works with fabrication, measurement and simulation scientists. Experience with integrated photonics and MEMS layout is required, and optomechanics and GDSFactory are a plus.

What a quantum transducer does
Superconducting quantum processors work with microwave signals inside dilution refrigerators, but microwaves cannot travel far at room temperature. A microwave-to-optical transducer converts those signals into optical photons that can be sent through fibre, which is one route to linking quantum processors into networks. QphoX says it is one of the leading groups developing these devices.
