- Establish and lead technical collaborations with supercomputing centres on hybrid quantum-classical applications
- Spearhead research pathfinding in AI for quantum algorithms
- Drive technical results with strategic partners, including supercomputing centres and QPU builders
- Publish research and represent NVIDIA at conferences
The posting is the Japan counterpart of NVIDIA’s quantum algorithms role and asks for deep knowledge of, and connections within, the Japanese quantum ecosystem. NVIDIA states that applications for this job are accepted at least until the date given in the posting, which is a minimum rather than a closing date; the role stays listed until it is filled. NVIDIA also says it uses AI tools in its recruiting process.
What NVIDIA is looking for
- A PhD in quantum computing, physics, computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience, with more than five years in quantum algorithms and applications
- Deep knowledge of, and strong connections within, the Japanese quantum ecosystem
- Demonstrated leadership of technical collaborations with industry partners
- Strong programming in Python and C++ and a parallel programming model such as CUDA
- A track record of publications and conference presentations
Nice to have

How to prepare for this application
- Ecosystem knowledge: be ready to name the Japanese centres, QPU builders and programmes you have worked with.
- Applications focus: prepare one industry use case you could take from proposal to result.
- Bilingual communication: the role is partner-facing in Japan, so prepare to present clearly in the language your partners use.
- HPC and GPUs: revise how large quantum simulations are distributed.
- Platform: run a CUDA-Q example so you can discuss the developer experience.
About NVIDIA's quantum computing group
NVIDIA builds accelerated computing hardware and software, and its quantum computing group works on the classical side of quantum computers: GPU-accelerated simulation, error-correction decoding, calibration and control. Its open platforms include CUDA-Q for hybrid quantum-classical programming and the cuQuantum SDK for simulation, and the group works with supercomputing centres and quantum hardware builders rather than building its own qubits.
