About the inStem epigenome editing postdoc

  • Develop new tools to probe and change the mammalian epigenome, transcriptome and epitranscriptome
  • Make these changes programmable, using molecular and synthetic biology
  • Use CRISPR systems, cell culture and stem cell models in the lab

Why this role matters

Epigenome editing can switch genes on or off without cutting DNA. It is one of the fastest-moving tool areas in biology. A postdoc that builds such tools in India is rare. The skills carry well into gene therapy and biotech.

Eligibility

  • A PhD in biochemistry, bioengineering, biotechnology or any branch of life sciences
  • Desirable: a strong cell and molecular biology background
  • Experience in cloning, cell culture, stem cell biology, qPCR, Western blots, ChIP and CRISPR/Cas9 is an asset
  • RNA engineering, protein design, small Cas proteins and bioinformatics are an added advantage
  • Age limit: 40 years. The ad gives no relaxation

The eligibility date is the closing date. Incomplete applications are rejected. Women are encouraged to apply. One general clause speaks of a pay range, but the ad gives only the single figure of Rs 58,000.
