About the metagenomics bioinformatics role

• Analyse diverse biological data, mainly microbiomes from many sample types, covering both prokaryotes and eukaryotes
• Develop new methods and tools to label and mine sequences that do not fit existing databases or schemas
• Curate data so it is ready to train models, and benchmark honestly to separate real improvements from noise
• Prototype and validate methods at scale, then hand them to engineering teams for production
• Use newer machine-learning methods for annotation where they fit, and keep provenance and data integrity high
• Help build outward-facing tools, such as a model that suggests where field teams might find undiscovered biodiversity

• Enough engineering skill to make your methods run, and a collaborative, fast-moving working style

Nice to have

• Machine-learning methods for sequence annotation or mining
• Experience with phage or eukaryotic genomes and with workflow tools
