Job Description

About the job

We are looking for a postdoc researcher (or post-graduate researcher) to join the laboratory of 2D materials and work on a newly funded national project to develop van dew Waals heterostructures based on 2D materials for NIR detection.

Responsibilities

You will join the Laboratory of 2D Materials of the Department of Physics “E. Pancini,” which is devoted to optical characterization of 2D materials and vdW heterostructures working in the framework of a national project. This project aims to study photophysics, charge generation, and recombination processes in van der Waals-type heterostructures (vdW) made by transition metal dichalcogenides and 2D perovskites.

The candidate will deal with:

Realization of vdW heterostructures using mechanical exfoliation and deterministic transfer techniques;
Characterization of the optical and electronic properties of heterostructures by absorption, Raman, and photoluminescence spectroscopy;
Study the dynamics of charge generation and recombination by time-resolved optical spectroscopy.

This vacancy will be filled as soon as possible. Applications should reach us no later than 31.10.2023, and they will be processed as quickly as they are received.

Visit the University website here.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Physics or related disciplines. PhD is a strong plus.

It requires a good knowledge of optical instrumentation, at least one programming language (Matlab, Python, Labview), and solid-state physics.

Employment Conditions

Contract type: Post-doc fellowship (or post-graduate fellowship, depending on experience) for 12-18 months. The duration is negotiable and will also depend on the start date. Estimated monthly net salary: 1800-2000 Euro, to be negotiated depending on qualifications and previous experience.

Target start date: 01/12/2023 (flexible)

How to apply

To apply, please submit a cover letter, CV, and contact information for two references to Felice Gesuele (felice.gesuele@unina.it). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

The Italian Ministry for University and Research funded the position under the PRIN 2022 call.
