Job Description

Intel in Bangalore is hiring a CPU Physical Design Engineer to implement high-performance, low-power CPU designs from RTL to GDS: synthesis, placement, clock trees, routing, timing and power closure, and all sign-off checks. The engineer also works with EDA vendors and helps improve Intel’s physical design flows.

At a glance

  • Role: CPU Physical Design Engineer (req. JR0286567)
  • Focus: RTL-to-GDS implementation of Intel CPU designs
  • Location: Bangalore, India
  • Posted: 21 August 2026
  • Apply: open until filled (re-checked 14 October 2026)

What you would do

  • Carry CPU designs from RTL to GDS: synthesis, floor planning, place and route, clock tree synthesis, timing and power distribution
  • Run sign-off: formal equivalence, static timing, reliability, static and dynamic power integrity, layout and electrical rule checks
  • Recommend micro-architecture improvements with logic, circuit and architecture teams
  • Work with EDA vendors and improve flows and automation

Why this role matters

Physical design turns logic into the geometry a fab can build, and for high-performance CPUs every picosecond of timing and milliwatt of power matters. Engineers who can close timing and sign off large CPU blocks are in high demand across India’s semiconductor design centres.

What Intel is looking for

  • A degree in electrical or computer engineering
  • Hands-on experience across the physical design flow and sign-off
  • Expertise in timing closure, clock design, power domains and structured placement
  • Scripting for flow automation

Nice to have

  • CPU-specific physical design experience and DFT awareness

Pay and location

Intel does not publish a salary in this ad; pay depends on experience and grade. The role is based in Bengaluru, India; check the posting for the exact site and any hybrid working arrangement.

How to apply

Apply through the official Intel job posting. Intel’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 14 October 2026. Check the posting for location and work-authorisation details before you apply.

How to prepare for this application

  • Show closure results: frequency, power and area targets you met.
  • Sign-off depth: list the checks you owned end to end.
  • Tools: name the P&R and timing tools you know well.
  • Automation: flow scripts you wrote help your case.
