- A full-time M.E., M.Tech. or M.S. in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Computer Science, or Astronomy and Astrophysics, with 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade, plus one year of experience; or
- a full-time B.E. or B.Tech. in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical or Computer Science with 60% in aggregate, plus three years of experience.
- The required experience is in C programming or embedded C programming, with hands-on experience developing microcontroller-based software in a reputed industry or research organisation.
- Desirable: experience in Python programming and GUI design. Candidates with higher qualifications in a relevant field and experience will also be considered.
- Only candidates of Indian nationality may attend the walk-in interview.

Astronomical instruments spend years being built and only minutes at a time doing science, and the difference is usually the control software: the microcontroller code that moves a mechanism, reads a detector or holds a calibration. Pay and duration

The appointment is purely contractual for one year initially, extendable annually for two further years (three years in total), subject to the requirement of the institute or project and satisfactory annual assessment, or co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier. The notice states that the post carries no privileges or service benefits of regular institute employees.
