Job Description
KTH’s Networked Systems Security (NSS) group in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is recruiting a doctoral student in security and privacy, supervised by Prof. Panagiotis (Panos) Papadimitratos. Research can be in any of the group’s areas, but the advert says that security and resilience of positioning and localisation, including global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), is of primary interest. Experimental, systems and theoretical profiles are all welcome.

How KTH doctoral employment works
Only applicants admitted to doctoral studies can be employed as doctoral students. The first contract is for up to one year and is then renewed for up to two years at a time, adding up to at most four years of full-time study. Up to 20% of working time may go to tasks such as teaching and administration. Applicants need English at the level of Swedish upper-secondary English B/6.

What KTH is looking for
- A master’s degree, or at least 240 credits including 60 at second-cycle level, or equivalent knowledge
- English equivalent to English B/6
- A solid background in several of: computer security, privacy-enhancing technologies, mobile computing, networking, Internet security, wireless communications, distributed algorithms and systems, programming languages, performance analysis, operating systems, simulation tools, software engineering, system and network programming, applied cryptography, information theory
- Ability to work independently, collaborate, take a professional approach and analyse complex problems
Nice to have
- Strong experimental, systems or theoretical profile
- Interest in several of design, analysis, verification, implementation and evaluation of secure systems
- Readiness to contribute to an international research team
Pay and location
Doctoral students at KTH are salaried employees, paid monthly under KTH’s doctoral student salary agreement; the advert gives no figure. The post is full time in Stockholm, starting by agreement.
