Job Description
Terra Quantum is hiring an Electronics Design Engineer for the hardware team of its quantum key distribution (QKD) system. The role delivers low-noise, high-frequency mixed-signal control and instrumentation electronics: board design in Altium, precision analog signal chains, prototype bring-up and validation and, where needed, STM32 firmware in C. You will extend the team’s Python measurement software and work closely with the optics, FPGA and software engineers.

What the role covers
- Own hardware architecture and component choice for precision, low-noise, high-frequency performance
- Design low-noise analog and mixed-signal schematics and PCB layouts in Altium, with DFM and DFT in mind
- Build prototypes with vendors, bring them up and measure DC accuracy, noise spectral density, drift and frequency response
- Write and modify STM32 F4/H7 firmware in C and Python drivers for control and data acquisition
- Build automated board and firmware test set-ups and repeatable validation pipelines
- Prepare manufacturing packages and support vendors through fabrication and assembly
What Terra Quantum is looking for
- 5+ years of analog and mixed-signal electronics design for R&D or instrumentation, with strong Altium skills
- Deep analog fundamentals: low-noise signal chains (high-frequency TIAs, preamps, ADC drivers, filters), precision measurement, grounding and shielding
- The ability to set and close noise and error budgets, with tolerance and worst-case analysis and SPICE simulation
- Lab skill with precision and high-frequency measurements, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers and VNAs
- Awareness of EMC/EMI and safety, Python for lab automation, Git, and proficient English
- The right to work in Germany and eligibility for a U.S. Secret or EU SECRET security clearance
