Job Description

IonQ is looking for a Head of Product for its Quantum Interconnect Platform, the line of quantum memories, interconnects and repeaters that link quantum systems together. The role is the bridge between IonQ’s R&D and engineering teams and its sales and go-to-market teams: part product manager, part technical storyteller and part early-stage specialist seller. You will define the roadmap with engineers, meet customers, and feed what you learn back into the product.

At a glance

  • Role: Head of Product, Quantum Interconnect
  • Team: Research & Development
  • Location: Boston, Massachusetts (office-based, some remote days)
  • Experience: PhD or advanced technical degree; 10+ years of product management
  • Base pay: US$192,979–276,722
  • Apply: open until filled (re-checked 14 October 2026)

What the role covers

  • Create and maintain the product materials for the Quantum Interconnect Platform
  • Work with engineering teams to define the product roadmap, including adjacent technologies
  • Translate technical capabilities into clear product requirements, specification sheets, website copy and case studies
  • Lead customer meetings on the value and use cases of quantum memories, interconnects and repeaters, and support early lead generation
  • Define quantum memory, interconnect and repeater offerings with business-unit leads, and build go-to-market materials
  • Engage with enterprise executives, government officials and senior technical staff to establish product–market fit

What IonQ is looking for

  • A PhD or advanced technical degree in engineering, physics or a related field
  • 10+ years of product management in quantum computing, networking or related deep-tech industries, including direct quantum computing or networking product work
  • Experience in management consulting or equivalent, producing executive-ready presentations
  • The technical fluency to discuss roadmaps and trade-offs credibly with engineers and physicists
  • Excellent writing and speaking, comfort supporting sales in an early-stage setting (direct sales experience is not required), and a high level of ownership

Pay and location

IonQ lists a base salary range of US$192,979–276,722 (its ‘wage transparency’ figure) and says the total package includes benefits such as medical cover, a matching 401(k) and unlimited paid time off. The role is based at IonQ’s Boston office with some remote days.

How to apply

Apply through the official IonQ job posting. IonQ’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 14 October 2026. Check the posting for location and work-authorisation details before you apply.

How to prepare for this application

  • Prepare a short, customer-facing explanation of why quantum memories and repeaters are needed for long-distance quantum networks.
  • Bring examples of spec sheets, product decks or white papers you have written for deep-tech products.
  • Think through who the first customers of a quantum interconnect product are (labs, governments, telecoms, data centres) and what each would pay for.
  • Be ready to discuss how you have balanced research timelines against commercial commitments.
