The project
Climate change is reshaping wave climates, marine renewable energy potential and coastal systems. This PhD works on resilient future energy systems and their societal impacts, on the EU-INTERCHANGE and EU-FUSION projects led by Dr George Lavidas.
You would join the Marine Renewable Energies Lab in an interdisciplinary, international team. The work centres on high-fidelity energy system modelling and on coupled pathway frameworks for what-if scenario analysis derived from integrated assessment models. You would build pathways from multiple realisations of CMIP6 or CMIP7 datasets, aligned with IPCC scenarios.
What you need
- A master’s in energy, offshore or marine engineering, climate science, or a related quantitative field
- Comfort with large climate datasets and energy system models
