Why this role matters
Photonic quantum computers are built from thousands of interferometers on a chip, and every decibel of loss in a waveguide or coupler costs circuit depth. A designer who can model components accurately and keep the process design kit honest is therefore working on the limiting factor of the whole machine.
Pay and duration
