About the earth and planetary sciences postdoc at NISER
- You will join one research group in SEPS. The group depends on shared research interests between you and the faculty member
- The ad does not fix a project. You pick a research area from the SEPS faculty web pages and name it in your cover letter
- The same call covers the title Research Associate. The ad uses both titles together
Read the faculty profiles on the SEPS website first. Then choose the group whose work fits yours. You can also search for supervisors by field on our Find a supervisor page.
Why this role matters
These posts let you choose your own group. You pick the research area and the faculty member yourself. You can shape a project in planetary, earth or atmosphere and ocean science, with up to two years of funded time.
Eligibility
- Essential: a PhD degree in the relevant area
- Nationality: Indian nationals only
- The ad sets no age limit and no minimum marks
Shortlisting uses your CV, research statement and reference letters. Shortlisted people may face an interview in person or by video call. NISER pays no travel or daily allowance for the interview or for joining.
Pay and duration
- Fellowship as per existing DAE rules. The ad does not state an amount
- Purely temporary posts, funded from the SEPS Non Plan Fund (FY 2026-2027)
- Tenure of 1 year from joining. It can be extended by 1 more year if your work is good
