IIT Hyderabad’s Department of Civil Engineering is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, appointed as Research Associate 2, for a project on the mechanical behaviour of large-scale 3D printed concrete assemblies under Prof. K.V.L. Subramaniam. Expertise in digital image correlation (DIC) is essential. The fellowship is Rs 67,000 a month plus HRA, and applications close on 25 September 2026.

3D printing of concrete builds structures layer by layer without formwork, but printed elements behave differently from cast concrete, especially at layer interfaces and where reinforcement is added. Digital image correlation, which tracks surface patterns in camera images to measure full-field strain and cracking, is one of the main tools for studying that behaviour in the lab.

- Lead the effort to set up the testing protocol for large printed assemblies
- Develop field-scale reinforced 3D printed concrete assemblies
- Evaluate their mechanical properties, using 2D and 3D digital image correlation
Eligibility
- PhD in Civil Engineering
- Essential: expertise in digital image correlation (DIC), both 2D and 3D
- Desirable: experience with continuous internal reinforcement of concrete, fracture testing and inverse analysis
- Upper age limit: 35 years
