Arc Institute’s Pluvinage Lab is hiring a postdoctoral researcher in neuro-immune interactions, exploring undiagnosed autoimmunity in rare neurological cases and common neurodegenerative diseases, and looking for autoantibodies that drive cognitive decline or protect cognition in healthy ageing.

About the Pluvinage Lab postdoc
- Lead a research project on how autoantibodies regulate cognition, from source and target to mechanism
- Investigate how pathogenic autoantibodies could be removed while leaving the rest of the immune system intact
- Study how comorbid autoimmunity contributes to cognitive decline, and whether protective autoantibodies support resilience in ageing
- Publish first-author papers, present at conferences, mentor junior staff and contribute to lab operations
The lab starts from human samples, including cerebrospinal fluid, blood cells and brain tissue from curated patient cohorts, and uses CRISPR screens, phage display and immune repertoire sequencing. Clinical residents or fellows interested in physician-scientist careers are encouraged to apply.
What Arc Institute is looking for
- A doctorate (MD, PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent) in immunology, neuroimmunology, neuroscience, genetics or a related field
- Expertise in human immunology, neurobiology or computational biology, with a strong understanding of immune-nervous system interactions
- Excellent written and spoken communication
- Curiosity, independence and enjoyment of collaboration outside your field
Pay and location
Arc lists a minimum base salary of US$80,000 a year for its postdocs, set by months of relevant postdoctoral experience. The role is based in Palo Alto.
