  • Develop permanent, removable and pressure-sensitive adhesives, including for low-surface-energy surfaces

Why this role matters

Polymer film and adhesive R&D jobs are rare in India, and most sit inside global firms. This one owns products from concept to launch. It suits a polymer scientist who wants to see their formulations in real use, from vehicle wraps to brand signs.

What 3M is looking for

  • An M.Tech or PhD in polymer science or technology, materials science or a related field
  • 8 to 12 years in product development, functional film R&D and materials science
  • Proven expertise in adhesives, polymers, film processing and sustainable materials
  • Experience with raw material suppliers and third-party contract manufacturers
  • Lab testing skills and experience taking new products to market
  • Strong communication, planning and organisation

Pay and location

The posting gives no salary. It is a full-time role in Bengaluru. 3M says your application may not be considered unless you give your education and work history, by CV or in the form.

How to prepare for this application

  • Bring a launch story. Describe one film or adhesive you took from lab to market, with numbers.
  • Know PSA basics well. Tack, peel and shear, and how to bond to low-surface-energy plastics.
  • Talk about scale-up. Explain how you moved a formulation onto an extrusion or coating line.
  • Show print knowledge. Solvent, eco-solvent and water-based inks behave differently on films.
  • Mention sustainability. PVC-free films and recycled content are live topics in graphics.
