CSIR-CSMCRI Bhavnagar is hiring a Project Associate-I for an electro-deionisation project for hydrogen generation. The system will make ultrapure water for electrolysers. The post is for chemical, mechanical, production and automobile engineers. Apply by email by 21 October 2026.

At a glance

  • Post: Project Associate-I (PAT-I), 1 post
  • Project: FTT060604, CSIR-sponsored
  • Where: CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar, Gujarat
  • Pay: Rs 31,000 + HRA with NET/GATE; Rs 25,000 + HRA otherwise
  • Apply by: 21 October 2026, by email

The advertisement is No. CSIR-CSMCRI/FTC02/2026-27. The project is titled “Electro-deionization system to produce electrolyser grade ultrapure water for hydrogen generation”. The same ad has two other posts on desalination membranes (one PAT-I for M.Sc. chemistry and one Project Assistant-II). This listing covers the hydrogen post only.

About the electro-deionisation project for hydrogen generation

  • Water electrolysers need very pure feed water to make hydrogen
  • The project builds an electro-deionisation (EDI) system to produce this electrolyser-grade ultrapure water
  • The ad gives the project title and the required degree. It does not list day-to-day duties or name a PI

Why this role matters

India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission needs a supply of very clean water for electrolysers. CSMCRI is one of the country’s leading membrane and water labs. This post gives an engineer early hands-on work in that supply chain.

Eligibility

  • A B.E. or B.Tech in chemical, mechanical, production or automobile engineering, or in chemical technology, from a recognised university
  • Maximum age: 35 years. Relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD and women as per Government of India and CSIR rules
  • Final-semester or final-year students waiting for results are not eligible
  • A provisional degree certificate with mark sheets is accepted at interview, if you show you have asked for the degree

The post is temporary and ends with the project. Total project work at CSIR labs cannot exceed 6 years. The ad gives no project duration and no interview date. Clause E prints the date as “21 th October 2026”.

Pay and duration

  • Rs 31,000 a month plus HRA if you qualified CSIR-UGC, ICAR or ICMR NET (including lectureship or assistant professorship), GATE, or a national exam by a central department such as DBT or DST
  • Rs 25,000 a month plus HRA for others
  • HRA as per Government of India rules for CSIR staff
  • No TA or DA for the interview

How to apply

How to prepare for this application

  • Say which post you want. Mention project FTT060604 and the hydrogen post clearly in your email.
  • Revise ion exchange basics. Know how ion-exchange membranes and resins remove ions from water.
  • Know the water spec. Electrolysers need high-resistivity water; learn what that means.
  • Show hands-on work. Pilot plants, pumps, piping or lab rigs from your B.Tech project all count.
  • Carry your GATE score. It moves your pay from Rs 25,000 to Rs 31,000 plus HRA.
