Job Description
NUS’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering is hiring a Research Fellow in emerging device design and fabrication, working on transistors and circuits made from two-dimensional semiconductors and on new device structures such as tunnelling FETs. The post suits a recent Ph.D. or postdoc with electron-beam lithography device fabrication experience and good publications in 2D materials.
At a glance
- Post: Research Fellow, emerging device design and fabrication
- Department: Materials Science and Engineering
- Posted: 21 May 2026
- Apply: open until filled (re-checked 14 October 2026)
What the post involves
- Fabricate devices based on 2D materials
- Develop transistors and circuits based on 2D semiconductors
- Explore new device structures such as tunnelling FETs
- Write and publish scientific papers
Why this post matters
2D semiconductors only a few atoms thick are candidates for transistors beyond silicon’s limits, and research on them is closely watched by the chip industry. Singapore’s investment in semiconductors makes NUS a strong base for this work. The post also builds hands-on skills in nanofabrication, electrical testing and device physics that transfer well to industry and national-lab research roles in Singapore and abroad.
What NUS is looking for
- A Ph.D.
- Device fabrication experience with electron-beam lithography (EBL)
- Good publications in 2D materials
- Strong communication skills and research motivation
Nice to have
- Transistor fabrication experience
Pay and location
NUS does not state a salary in this advertisement; research staff pay in Singapore follows the institution’s own scales and depends on qualifications and experience.
How to apply
Apply through the official NUS job posting. NUS’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 14 October 2026. Check the posting for location and work-authorisation details before you apply.
