The work
The post sits in the In vitro and Cellular Pharmacology sub-team inside Translational Sciences, which specialises in small molecules. You would define in vitro strategies and screening cascades for the company’s drug design projects, moving its oncology, immunology and partnership portfolios from early discovery through candidate selection and on towards clinical work.
In practice that means guiding the optimisation of biophysical and biochemical assays, including SPR, ITC and enzymatic methods, to measure target engagement, potency and specificity; developing functional and phenotypic cellular assays that bridge biochemical engagement and biological potency; working with contract research organisations to design decision-making experiments; and interpreting binding, kinetic and dose-response data into documentation that supports IND-enabling packages.
The most interesting part of the advert is how it describes the role’s position in the company: a bridge between computational prediction and experimental reality. You would feed clean data loops back to the AI and machine learning teams so that in silico predictions become testable hypotheses, guide medicinal chemistry through SAR design cycles with reliable potency and selectivity data, align biophysical binding data with structural biology, and hand validated leads over to in vivo pharmacology.
What you need
- Experience as an in vitro pharmacologist, with significant working knowledge of biophysical, biochemical or cell-based functional assays
- Extensive experience providing quantitative in vitro pharmacology expertise inside drug discovery projects
- The judgement to define screening cascades and to interpret binding, kinetic and dose-response data
- Precise technical writing, for documentation that supports strategic decisions and regulatory packages
- Appetite for close work with machine learning, medicinal chemistry and structural biology teams
- Read the official advertisement for the full list of requirements and to pick your level
About the employer
Isomorphic Labs was launched in 2021 to build on and beyond the Nobel-winning AlphaFold system. Its interdisciplinary team of drug discovery experts and machine learning specialists builds predictive and generative AI models that design molecules, anticipate how drugs will perform and develop new medicines. It describes its drug design engine as working across several therapeutic areas and drug modalities.
How to apply
Apply through the Isomorphic Labs job page. No closing date is given, so apply early. Check the visa position before you start. US research employers differ on whether they sponsor, and some adverts say outright that they will not.

How to prepare for this application
- One form, two levels. Decide whether you are applying as Research Leader or Senior Scientist and say so.
- Quantitative pharmacology is the core ask. SPR, ITC and enzymatic assays are named.
- The AI interface matters. Show a time your data changed a model or a design cycle.
- Check sponsorship before you invest time. It is the biggest single filter on US research applications from overseas.
