Job Description
The Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) at A*STAR is hiring a Research Officer in computational biology for ATOMIC, a new AI-enabled biological discovery platform that links data generation, automation, analysis and human expertise in a ‘lab-in-the-loop’. The officer analyses bulk and single-cell transcriptomics and perturbation data to understand mechanisms, drug resistance and toxicity.
At a glance
- Post: Research Officer, Computational Biology (req. 2872)
- Institute: Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS), A*STAR
- Posted: 17 July 2026
- Apply: open until filled (re-checked 14 October 2026)
What the post involves
- Analyse bulk and single-cell transcriptomic and perturbation datasets
- Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines
- Combine statistics, machine learning and biological knowledge to generate hypotheses
- Apply AI and agentic methods to real biomedical questions
Why this post matters
AI-driven drug discovery is limited by the lack of high-quality, validated biological data, and ATOMIC is designed to generate and analyse exactly that. For an early-career computational biologist it offers hands-on work on a new national platform. It is also a good entry into AI-driven biology for recent graduates who want to grow into research roles.
What A*STAR is looking for
- A degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science or a related field
- Experience with RNA-seq or single-cell data analysis
- Programming in Python or R
Nice to have
- Interest in AI or agent-based analysis tools
Pay and location
A*STAR does not state a salary in this advertisement; research staff pay in Singapore follows the institution’s own scales and depends on qualifications and experience.
How to apply
Apply through the official A*STAR job posting. A*STAR’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 14 October 2026. Check the posting for location and work-authorisation details before you apply.
