Job Description

ID Quantique (IDQ), part of IonQ, is hiring a Senior Cryogenic Engineer for its superconducting nanowire single-photon detector (SNSPD) product line. The focus is next-generation rack-mountable cryogenic platforms: robust, reliable 2 K cryo-systems that can be deployed in IDQ’s own labs and at customer sites, and that stay maintainable as the technology evolves. SNSPDs are among the best single-photon detectors available and are widely used in quantum communication, including QKD.

What the role covers

  • Lead system-level specification, integration and testing of cryogenic platforms tailored to SNSPD requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience in the cryogenic industry
  • Proven experience designing, evaluating and maintaining complex cryogenic systems, including dilution, sorption and 1 K cryostats
  • Strong knowledge of cryogenic wiring, sensors, electronics and CAD-based design and manufacturing
  • Experience working with cryogenic vendors, subcontractors and external design partners on system integration

Nice to have

  • Expertise in fibre or free-space optics
  • Experience with superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors
  • Experience leading integration projects
