Job Description
This deep learning researcher job in Amsterdam is with Qualcomm AI Research. You join the Model Efficiency team. The team finds ways to make large language models and large vision models run fast on devices.
At a glance
- Position: Senior Deep Learning Researcher, Model Efficiency (job ID 3096509), full time
- Where: Amsterdam, Netherlands, on site (no remote candidates)
- Employer: Qualcomm Technologies Netherlands B.V.
- Pay: Not stated in the posting
- Posted: 14 September 2026
- Apply: open until filled (re-checked 14 November 2026)
About the model efficiency research
- Research and build new deep learning models and algorithms that make inference more efficient
- Work on quantisation, compression, efficient data types, conditional compute and inference-time compute
- Design and run experiments with other researchers and engineers, and iterate quickly
- Work with product teams so your ideas reach phones, robots, AR/VR headsets and cars
- Publish at top conferences and journals, and engage with academic groups
Why this role matters
Large models are moving from data centres onto phones and cars. That only works if they become much smaller and faster. This team works on that problem, and its results can ship on millions of devices.
What Qualcomm is looking for
- A PhD in machine learning, computer vision, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience
- The formal minimum: a master’s in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or a related field plus 2 years of engineering work, or a PhD in one of these fields
- At least 6 months of academic or work experience developing or optimising ML models, systems or methods
- Hands-on deep learning experience across the full research cycle
- Python with PyTorch or JAX, and clean research code
Nice to have
- First-author papers at venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR or CVPR
- Experience with quantisation, compression or neural-network accelerators (the posting calls this a plus)
- Experience in industrial research or technical leadership
- Working well with many teams and stakeholders
Pay and location
The posting gives no salary figure. The role is based at Qualcomm’s Amsterdam office. The posting says the company is not looking for remote candidates. It says nothing about visa support, so check this before you apply.
How to apply
Apply through the official Qualcomm job posting. Qualcomm’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 14 November 2026. Check the posting for location and work-authorisation details before you apply.

- Know the main ways to cut inference cost in transformers: pruning, distillation, KV-cache tricks and speculative decoding
- Prepare to write or review PyTorch code live, with attention to clean and testable research code
- Read a few recent Qualcomm AI Research papers on model efficiency so you can discuss where your work fits
- Check that you can relocate to Amsterdam, since the role is on site
