Job Description

IonQ’s Network and Security division in Geneva is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop the mechanics of its quantum systems, from requirements to detailed designs and verified assemblies. The job combines 3D CAD and documentation, engineering calculations, thermal simulation and hands-on testing of heat dissipation and mechanical performance, in close collaboration with optical, electronic and system engineers. Familiarity with cryogenic systems is an advantage.

At a glance

How to prepare for this application

  • Bring a compact product you designed where heat removal was the hard problem, with your simulation and test results.
  • Read about how single-photon detectors and QKD hardware are packaged, since thermal and optical stability matter for them.
  • Prepare to discuss design for manufacture and how you worked with machine shops or sheet-metal suppliers.
  • If you speak French, mention it; the posting lists it as a plus.
