Job Description
IIT Indore’s Department of Civil Engineering is hiring a Senior Research Fellow to develop a drought early-warning and monitoring framework for India’s arid Ramsar wetlands. The project is funded by IIT Indore, and interviews are scheduled soon after applications close.

Ramsar sites are wetlands of international importance under the Ramsar Convention, and several in India lie in arid and semi-arid regions where rainfall is scarce and variable. Early warning of drought stress in these wetlands, using satellite and hydro-climatic data, can help managers protect water levels and the birds and ecosystems that depend on them.
About the SRF role
- Work on developing a drought early-warning and monitoring framework for arid wetlands of India
Desirable: experience of similar work in centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs), research labs or industry.
Eligibility
- A Master’s degree in engineering in Water, Environment or Civil Engineering or related areas, with first class
- GATE, CSIR-UGC NET, CSIR-UGC LS or INSPIRE qualification
- Two years of research experience, as per rules
- Age limit: 32 years for General candidates, with 5 years’ relaxation for SC, ST, OBC-NCL and PwD candidates, as per rules
