Job Description
ADI’s Analog Garage innovation lab in Boston is hiring a Staff Research Scientist in AI-hardware co-design. In the Algorithmic Solutions Group, the scientist works out how advanced AI algorithms should map onto hardware, using analysis and proofs of concept to define the best compute strategy for ‘physical intelligence’ at the edge.
At a glance
- Team: Algorithmic Solutions Group, Analog Garage
- Location: Boston, Massachusetts
- Pay: $172,000 – $236,500 a year, as listed
- Apply: open until filled (re-checked 14 October 2026)
What you would do
- Identify, with business leads and domain experts, where AI can solve hard problems in the physical world
- Co-design algorithms and hardware architecture through analysis and proofs of concept
- Define the compute strategy for intelligent edge systems
- Bridge advanced AI algorithms and practical hardware implementation
Why this role matters
Running AI on small, low-power devices near sensors needs algorithms and hardware designed together, because general-purpose chips waste energy. ADI makes the sensors and signal chains where much of this data starts, so its co-design work can shape the next generation of edge AI chips for industrial, automotive and healthcare products.
What Analog Devices is looking for
- Research experience at the boundary of machine learning and hardware
- Ability to analyse compute, memory and energy trade-offs for AI workloads
- Strong communication with both researchers and business teams
Nice to have
- Experience with edge AI accelerators or embedded ML
Pay and location
ADI lists $172,000 to $236,500 a year for this Boston role.
How to apply
Apply through the official Analog Devices job posting. Analog Devices’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 14 October 2026. Check the posting for location and work-authorisation details before you apply.

How to prepare for this application
- Show co-design: projects where you changed an algorithm to suit hardware, or the reverse.
- Edge constraints: power, latency and memory numbers from real systems help.
- Physical signals: ADI's world is sensors and RF, not only text and images.
- Staff level: show you can define problems, not just solve them.
About Analog Devices
Analog Devices (ADI) makes analog, mixed-signal, power and sensing chips. Its Analog Garage innovation lab in Boston and its Wilmington, Massachusetts site host research teams working on AI for physical signals, batteries and integrated photonics.
