PsiQuantum is hiring an Integrated Photonics Engineer in Daresbury, UK, to design and run experiments that characterise integrated photonic circuits and optical circuit switches, and to build the automated test systems needed at scale.

About the integrated photonics engineer role
- Design and run experiments to characterise integrated photonic circuits across several optical wavelengths
- Characterise optical circuit switch performance across operating conditions and wavelengths
- Test and analyse devices containing directional couplers, interferometers and electro-optic modulators
- Build automated experiment control and data acquisition, preferably in Python
- Work with design teams to troubleshoot devices and improve the next iterations, and document procedures and results
- Help develop scalable testing methods for large photonic systems
What PsiQuantum is looking for
- A PhD in photonics, physics, electrical engineering or a related field
- A strong experimental background in integrated optics and photonic circuit characterisation
- Hands-on experience with directional couplers, Mach-Zehnder interferometers (MZI/AMZI) and phase shifters
- Python for automation and data analysis, and experience with complex optical measurement setups
Nice to have
- Industry experience in photonics or semiconductor device testing
- Electro-optic and thermo-optic tuning
- Optical circuit switching architectures in data-centre networks, including switch performance metrics
- Wafer-scale or high-throughput photonic testing, and knowledge of quantum optics or photonic quantum systems
