Every quantum computer makes errors far more often than a classical chip, so useful machines will need quantum error correction running continuously, with decoders fast enough to keep up with the hardware. Riverlane works on that layer for many hardware makers at once, which gives its researchers exposure to several qubit technologies.

What Riverlane is looking for

  • A PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • A record of high-quality theoretical work, for example publications
  • Experience setting the direction of research and leading projects involving several people
  • Strong working knowledge of QEC and a collaborative, mentoring style
  • Clear written and spoken communication for varied audiences, and the ability to obtain US government clearance if required

Nice to have

  • QEC research you have led or carried out, shown by publications
  • Knowledge of qLDPC codes
  • Understanding of one or more qubit modalities
