Every quantum computer makes errors far more often than a classical chip, so useful machines will need quantum error correction running continuously, with decoders fast enough to keep up with the hardware. Riverlane works on that layer for many hardware makers at once, which gives its researchers exposure to several qubit technologies.

What Riverlane is looking for

  • A PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Proven ability to do high-quality theoretical work, for example through publications
  • Experience driving scientific direction and leading projects involving several people
  • Working knowledge of QEC, a mentoring mindset, and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly

Nice to have

  • Led or carried out QEC research, shown by publications
  • Knowledge of qLDPC codes and of one or more qubit modalities
  • Experience leading a group of researchers across several projects with competing priorities

Pay and location
