Job Description
Alice & Bob is hiring a Senior Integration and Yield Engineer for superconducting quantum circuits in Aubervilliers, near Paris, to own yield across its chip fabrication flows and make qubit performance more consistent from wafer to wafer.
At a glance
- Role: Senior Integration & Yield Engineer, Superconducting Quantum Circuits
- Where: Aubervilliers (Paris region), France
- Contract: CDI (permanent)
- Experience: MSc or PhD plus 3+ years in semiconductor or superconducting nanofabrication
- Apply: open until filled (re-checked 11 October 2026)
About the integration and yield role
- Own yield monitoring across fabrication flows: define metrics and build automated dashboards and wafer reports
- Lead root-cause analysis of yield problems with the chip manufacturing teams, and run corrective and preventive actions
- Use statistics (Python or JMP) to keep processes stable, and reduce inductance and frequency non-uniformity within and across wafers
- Define and maintain reference integration flows, design-for-manufacturability guidelines and design-rule extensions
- Own the look-up tables that link design parameters to Josephson-junction fabrication, and build Python tools that turn designs into wafer layouts
- Coordinate failure analysis at room and cryogenic temperatures using electrical tests, inline metrology, SEM and AFM
Cat qubits store information in two coherent states of a microwave resonator, stabilised by engineered two-photon dissipation. That makes bit-flip errors extremely rare, so the remaining phase-flip errors can be handled with simpler codes, such as a repetition code. Roles at Alice & Bob are built around making that architecture work at scale.
The posting describes a staged hiring process: a screening call, an interview with the hiring manager, a technical session with the team and a technical presentation.
What Alice & Bob is looking for
- A master’s degree or PhD in physics, materials science or a related field
- 3+ years of hands-on work in semiconductor or superconducting-circuit nanofabrication or process integration
- Proven skills in yield engineering, statistical process control, design of experiments and statistical tools
- Python scripting to extend tools linking design and fabrication, and structured root-cause methods (5 Whys, FMEA, Ishikawa)
- Clear communication in a cross-disciplinary team
Nice to have
- Fabricating or characterising superconducting circuits, or cryogenic testing
Pay and location
Alice & Bob’s posting does not state a salary. The role is a CDI (permanent contract) based in Aubervilliers, in the Paris region.

How to prepare for this application
- Josephson junctions: revise how junction resistance at room temperature predicts qubit frequency, and what drives spread across a wafer.
- Statistics: be ready to design an experiment (DOE) and read a control chart.
- Root cause: prepare a structured story of a yield problem you traced and fixed.
- Automation: bring an example of a Python tool you built for wafer maps or layout generation.
- Technical presentation: the process includes a long technical session; pick a project with clear data.
About Alice & Bob
Alice & Bob is a French company developing a universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer. Its approach uses a new kind of superconducting qubit, the Schrödinger cat qubit, which can correct some errors autonomously, so less hardware is needed for error correction than on other superconducting platforms. The company has more than 250 people from over 35 countries.
