Job Description
The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, is interviewing for a Project Associate-II to study ribosome hibernation in Mycobacterium tuberculosis as a possible anti-tuberculosis drug target, in the lab of Dr. Prem S. Kaushal. The post asks for two years of research experience after an M.Sc.
At a glance
- Position: Project Associate-II (1 post)
- Project: Exploring ribosome hibernation in Mycobacterium tuberculosis as a potential anti-tuberculosis drug target
- Pay: Rs 42,000 plus 27% HRA per month
- Duration: Initially one year
- Age limit: 34 years, as on the date the notice gives (31.09.2026)
- Walk-in interview: 24 September 2026, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
When tuberculosis bacteria stop growing under stress, they can park their ribosomes in an inactive, hibernating state and restart them later. This helps the bacteria survive treatment, so understanding and blocking ribosome hibernation could open a new route to anti-TB drugs.
About the project associate role
- Research on ribosome hibernation in Mycobacterium tuberculosis
- Laboratory work that may include gene cloning, protein and ribosome purification, and cryo-electron microscopy
Eligibility
- M.Sc. in Life Sciences with NET, DBT-JRF, GATE or an equivalent exam cleared
- At least 60% marks in the Master’s or equivalent degree
- Two years of R&D experience in industrial or academic institutions, or in science and technology organisations
- Desirable: gene cloning, protein purification, ribosome purification and cryo-electron microscopy; good communication; strong motivation for research
The notice states the age limit as “34 Years as on 31.09.2026”, a date that does not exist in the calendar; check with the institute if your eligibility depends on it. Bring your M.Sc. mark sheet, NET, DBT-JRF, GATE or equivalent certificate, and any published manuscript.
Pay and duration
- Rs 42,000 plus 27% HRA per month
- Initially for one year
