Job Description

Karolinska Institutet is offering a postdoctoral scholarship in human tumour immunology and T-cell biology at the Division of Clinical Immunology in Flemingsberg. The project studies how T cells in the tumour microenvironment are regulated, using clinical samples together with flow cytometry, spatial profiling, single-cell RNA sequencing and T-cell receptor sequencing.

About the tumour immunology and T-cell postdoc

• Characterise immune cells in human blood and tissue, focusing on the tumour microenvironment
• Run functional studies on how the local environment regulates immune responses
• Use multicolour flow cytometry, primary immune-cell and fibroblast culture, and functional T-cell assays
• Analyse single-cell transcriptomic and TCR repertoire data and integrate them with functional findings
• Plan experiments independently, supervise students, write manuscripts and apply for funding

The research environment

The group works in the ANA Futura research building on Campus Flemingsberg, which has advanced infrastructure for cellular, molecular and tissue-based research, and it collaborates closely with researchers and clinicians at Karolinska University Hospital.

What Karolinska Institutet is looking for

• A strong background in cellular or tumour immunology, preferably shown by first-author papers
• Experience with multicolour flow cytometry including panel design and analysis (required)
• Primary cell culture and functional immune-cell assays (required)
• Excellent English

Nice to have

• Isolating immune cells from human tissue
• High-dimensional immunology data analysis
• Confocal microscopy, spatial or digital pathology

Pay and location

This is a scholarship rather than an employment contract. KI’s advert explains that such scholarships can be set up for foreign researchers who come to Sweden for their postdoctoral training; it does not state the amount in the part we reviewed.
