Postdoctoral Researcher in Leukemic Stem Cell Biology at Karolinska Institutet
Job Description
Asst. Prof. Petter S. Woll’s lab at Karolinska Institutet’s Center for Hematology and Regenerative Medicine is hiring a postdoctoral researcher in leukemic stem cell biology. The lab studies how somatic mutations turn a normal blood stem cell into a leukemic stem cell, using biobanked and serially collected patient material. The new project will look at how subcellular and molecular structures are redistributed during normal and leukemic stem cell differentiation, with the aim of informing new approaches to monitoring and treating blood cancers.

About the leukemic stem cell postdoc
- Lead one or more research projects on identifying and characterising leukemic stem cells
- Set up and maintain experimental workflows, adapting existing tools
- Use advanced flow cytometry, in vitro assays for stem and immune cells, DNA and RNA sequencing, and in vivo models
- Contribute to other projects in the lab and to scientific discussion

What Karolinska Institutet is looking for
- A PhD by the employment decision (within three years is an advantage), with a strong background in cell and/or molecular biology
- At least one first-author paper in a peer-reviewed journal
- Experience with haematopoietic stem cells, haematopoiesis and/or immunology
- Proficiency with primary haematopoietic cells, including advanced flow cytometry and cell culture
- Ability to work independently on several projects, and good English
Nice to have
- Animal models of haematopoiesis
- High-throughput data analysis such as single-cell RNA-seq, with R and statistics
- CRISPR/Cas9 editing of primary cells
