Job Description
Lund University’s Division of Solid State Physics is recruiting a PhD student in quantum topoelectronics. The group builds quantum devices, including qubits, from electronic correlations and topology in two-dimensional materials. This project studies anyonic excitations in graphene-based devices with DC and microwave measurements, with the goal of building anyon arrays and operating them as qubits. The student will also help set up a new lab with a dilution refrigerator below 10 mK and a 14 T magnet.

About the quantum devices PhD
- Fabricate ultra-clean van der Waals heterostructures in the Lund Nano Lab cleanroom
- Run low-temperature transport and microwave measurements, including writing measurement scripts
- Analyse results to understand device behaviour and design new devices
- Help install and develop the new lab, including the dilution refrigerator
- Write papers, present at conferences and teach up to 20% of working time

What Lund University is looking for
- General entry: a second-cycle degree, or 240 credits with 60 at second-cycle level, or equivalent knowledge
- Specific entry: at least 45 second-cycle credits in physics, engineering physics or a related field, or a second-cycle degree in these fields
- Good knowledge of quantum physics
- Independence, good communication and cooperation skills, and very good English
Nice to have
- Experience with quantum devices, electrical measurements and cryogenics
- Nanofabrication and van der Waals stacking
- Creative, analytical thinking and skilful lab work
Pay and location
Lund’s advert lists a monthly salary without an amount. Doctoral studies at LTH are four years of full-time study, extended if you teach.

How to prepare for this application
- Cleanroom skills: describe lithography, etching or 2D-material transfer you have done.
