The scientist runs optical and microwave measurements, automates measurement and analysis, builds databases to track device trends, and feeds results back to the fabrication, design and simulation teams. It needs a PhD or at least four years of industry experience.

What a quantum transducer does
Superconducting quantum processors work with microwave signals inside dilution refrigerators, but microwaves cannot travel far at room temperature. A microwave-to-optical transducer converts those signals into optical photons that can be sent through fibre, which is one route to linking quantum processors into networks. QphoX says it is one of the leading groups developing these devices.
What QphoX is looking for
- A PhD, or 4+ years in industry, in electrical engineering, computer science, photonics, optics or a related field
- Python for scientific work
- 2+ years automating optical or positioning setup alignment
- 2+ years building databases and extracting trends from large datasets
- Integrated photonics, MEMS or semiconductor test and measurement
