GlobalFoundries is hiring a principal engineer for quantum photonics integration in Malta, New York or Essex Junction, Vermont. The role develops and integrates the semiconductor process modules used for photonic integrated circuits and quantum photonic devices (deposition, lithography, etch and metrology), characterises optical and material performance, finds yield limiters, and helps move processes to pilot lines and manufacturing.

About the quantum photonics integration role
- Develop and optimise process modules for PICs and quantum photonic devices
- Run integration work in deposition, lithography, etch, metrology and defect reduction
- Characterise optical and material performance
- Find and fix yield limiters and process variability
- Support fabrication of waveguides, modulators, resonators and detectors
- Support process transfer to manufacturing and keep records
What GlobalFoundries is looking for
- A BS, MS or PhD in electrical engineering, materials science, physics or chemistry
- 3+ years in semiconductor process integration, photonics process development or device fabrication
- Lithography, thin-film deposition, etch and metrology
- SPC, DOE, yield analysis or root-cause analysis
- Hands-on cleanroom experience
Nice to have
- Silicon nitride, AlN, alumina or lithium niobate photonics
- Waveguide fabrication and optical coupling
- Quantum photonic systems or cryogenic optical measurements
- Python, JMP or MATLAB
