Job Description

GlobalFoundries’ GF Labs is hiring a principal member of technical staff for ion-trap photonics integration in Malta, New York. The role defines how photonic components (waveguides, gratings, couplers, modulators and optical interfaces) are integrated with ion-trap devices, back-end layers and packaging for scalable trapped-ion quantum computers, and drives coupling efficiency, loss, alignment tolerance and yield. It reports to the Quantum Ion Trap Lead Integrator.

  • Deep photonic integration expertise: waveguides, gratings, couplers, modulators
  • Optical characterisation of PICs and sensitive measurement techniques
  • Photonics modelling and process-variation analysis
  • Government, academic or industrial joint programmes

Pay and location

GlobalFoundries lists an expected salary range of $143,000 to $247,000, depending on qualifications, experience and location.
