Job Description

Prof. Ho Ghim Wei’s group at NUS is hiring a postdoctoral research fellow for a programme developing an integrated solar water electrolyser that produces green hydrogen and clean water from seawater. The fellow will research functional nanomaterials for electrocatalytic hydrogen production, build and run lab-scale reaction systems, and combine experiments with computational modelling, working with materials scientists, chemists and electronic engineers.

At a glance

  • Position: Research Fellow, Electrocatalytic Hydrogen (req. 34221)
  • PI: Prof. Ho Ghim Wei (Electrical and Computer Engineering; Materials Science and Engineering)
  • Unit: Centre for Hydrogen and Carbon Innovations
  • Posted: 26 August 2026
  • Contract: Fixed term
  • Apply: open until filled (re-checked 13 October 2026)

About the green hydrogen post

  • Research functional nanomaterials for electrocatalytic hydrogen from seawater
  • Build and run lab-scale reaction systems for catalyst evaluation
  • Combine experiments and computational modelling to understand performance
  • Work with interdisciplinary colleagues
  • Publish papers and meet grant deliverables

About the centre

The post is in NUS’s Centre for Hydrogen and Carbon Innovations at Kent Ridge.

What NUS is looking for

  • A PhD in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, physics or a related field
  • Strong experimental skills and a good publication record
  • Experience in materials synthesis, characterisation and electrolyser design and testing
  • Openness to a fixed-term contract

Nice to have

  • Computational modelling or data-driven analysis

Pay and location

NUS’s posting does not state a salary or contract length. The post is full time in Singapore.

How to apply

Apply through the official NUS job posting. NUS’s posting does not give a closing date, so the role is open until filled; ResearchJobs.in will re-check this listing on 13 October 2026. How to prepare for this application

  • Seawater: think about chloride corrosion and selectivity against chlorine evolution.
  • Electrolysers: show cells you built and tested, not only three-electrode data.
  • Modelling: any DFT or data analysis is a plus.
  • Related post: the same group is hiring for photothermal decarbonisation.
