Job Description

DTU Physics is looking for a specialist in the security evaluation of continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD) systems. The job is to complete and consolidate ongoing European and Danish work on systematic QKD testing, validation, standardisation and certification: finishing experimental test stations, measuring CV-QKD devices, analysing implementation vulnerabilities and writing the evaluation reports that certification needs. It is a one-year technical position for someone who already has hands-on CV-QKD security-evaluation experience.

What you will do

  • Develop and refine methods for the systematic security evaluation of CV-QKD devices
  • Complete experimental test stations for implementation-security testing of CV-QKD systems
  • Plan and carry out measurements on CV-QKD components and devices, and validate test procedures
  • Write software for automated data acquisition, processing and analysis
  • Assess implementation vulnerabilities, attack mechanisms and countermeasures against defined security and performance criteria
  • Write detailed evaluation reports and project deliverables, and support CV-QKD standardisation and certification documents
  • Coordinate technical work with partners in NOSTRADAMUS, AccessQKD and related projects

What DTU is looking for

  • An MSc or PhD in physics, electrical engineering, photonics, quantum technology or a closely related field
  • Extensive, documented knowledge of CV-QKD systems and their practical implementation
  • Documented experience with CV-QKD implementation security, including attacks and countermeasures
  • Hands-on experience building lab test set-ups for optical or CV-QKD devices, and with automated measurement and scientific programming
  • Experience writing security-evaluation methods and detailed technical reports
  • Familiarity with CV-QKD standardisation, certification or security assurance (ideally from European projects), independent working and strong English

Pay and location

Salary is negotiated under DTU’s structure for academic staff in technical-administrative positions (AC TAP). The post is full time from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027, with the formal title Special Consultant.
