The ad notes that the Veldhorst Group demonstrated the first single-hole qubit, two-qubit logic in germanium and quantum algorithms on a four-qubit germanium processor. This is the group’s second postdoc hire on the topic, after a successful first one.
Why this role matters
Germanium hole spins are one of the leading semiconductor routes to large quantum processors, because they can be controlled electrically and built with chip-industry methods. Working on multi-qubit control and entanglement between registers is exactly the step needed to scale up. The four-year contract is also longer than most postdocs, which leaves room for ambitious experiments.

Pay and location
The contract is for four years at 38–40 hours a week. Salary and benefits follow the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, but the ad does not state the amount.
